If you have it off active party members divide it evenly meaning if you have less then 6 you get more. Shared Exp on. Ex: Everyone (including non active) gets 10 exp for the kill or skill check. There is a lot more variety and cool minor effects sprinkled over the game when compared to KM and that is just more fun. WotR has a lot more reactivity to your race, class and choices when compared to Kingmaker and that is pretty fun. One drawback will be that mercs all have a -4 as advisers, so you either have to just ignore that and hope to get good rolls (or save scum a lot) or use the pre-built characters as advisers.
